A. Assist practitioner with examinations and/or treatments and give instructions to patients as requested by the practitioner. (E)
B. Performs POCT Procedures as trained and instructed. (E)
C. Assists in obtaining authorizations for clinic visits, for diagnostic procedures and surgeries. (E)
D. Take patient blood pressure, weight, pulse, temperature, and/or respiration and complete patient history information during medical visit. (E)
E. Responsible for handling all aspects of a clinic/hospital wide activity such as phones, appointments, report distribution, data entry of charts and lab and x-ray, patient transport and assistance. (E)
F. Assists patients and families with referrals and discharges. (E)
G. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department. (E)
H. Appropriately adapts assigned patient care assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific and other developmental needs of each patient served. (E)
I. Takes personal responsibility to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and standards as promulgated by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
J. Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary in the performance of assigned job duties.

1. High school degree or equivalent is required.
2. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
1. Two (2) years experience in a medical setting with medical terminology knowledge preferred.
1. Demonstrable experience with PC, faxes and multi-line phones.
2. Ability to work well with people.
3. Ability to work within deadlines and prioritize.
4. Ability to utilize blood pressure monitor and thermometer.
E. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. General Office/Clinic conditions.
2. Possible exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases.
3. Occasional stress in dealing with irate and difficult people.
4. Must also successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination, and the annual screening each year thereafter as an employee.
