Job Description 

The Supply Chain Analyst position consists of three levels: Analyst I, Analyst II and Sr. Analyst.  Listed below are the decriptions for each position.


The Analyst I is responsible for supporting the contracting and value validation process in the supply chain organization with regard to financial analysis, reporting and measuring of data/statistics.   Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation/presentation of reports and data is a key responsibility. In addition, the position will provide appropriate consultative services via written and verbal communications and financial analysis to Ascension Health Supply Chain leadership. While this position may have focused responsibilities it will also support any Supply Chain and contract vertical information acquisition activities as necessary.


The Analyst II is responsible for supporting the contracting and value validation processes in the supply chain organization with regard to financial analysis, reporting and measuring of data/statistics. Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and presentation of reports and data is a key responsibility. In addition, the position will provide appropriate consultative services via written and verbal communications and financial analysis to The Resource Group leadership. Although this position may have focused responsibilities, it will also support any supply chain activities as necessary.


The Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting the contracting and value validation processes in the supply chain organization with regard to financial analysis, reporting and measuring of data/statistics. Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and presentation of reports and data is a key responsibility. In addition, the position will provide appropriate consultative services via written and verbal communications and financial analysis to The Resource Group leadership. Although this position may have focused responsibilities, it will also support any supply chain activities as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Analyst I

  • Support of Supply Chain Organizational leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and measuring of data/statistics.
  • Assist in the development, tracking and reporting of performance metrics for facility supply improvement initiatives.
  • Consult and advise Health Ministry personnel regarding individualized contract impact and serve as an information resource on related matters.
  • Assist in development of internal controls and validation of supply chain rebates.
  • Develop data collection tools and analytical methodology to use for analysis purposes.
  • Assist in development, analysis and evaluation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), quotes, bids and reverse auction contracting strategies.
  • Interpret data concerning financial trends and economic and business forecasts as they relate to the performance metrics and provide recommendations to Supply Chain Management.
  • Ensures contract data is loaded in Guidance and available to the ministries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in communication between the National Office and Health Ministries.
  • Support the Supply Chain Department in achievement of department goals and objectives.
  • Perform special assignments or projects as directed. (Example: gather information, assemble spreadsheets, develop templates, write reports, and review all pertinent Supply Chain financial information.)
  • Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
  • Work with other supply chain verticals in everyday functions.
  • Pursue continuing education to advance knowledge of Supply Chain reporting, planning, and analysis.

The position requires strong analytical and skills with the ability to produce results with moderate supervision.  Critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Time management and the ability to work on multiple projects at one time are vital. Proficient to expert use of spreadsheet, database, presentation and word processing applications are required.   


Analyst II

  • Support leadership with financial analysis, project management, reporting, and measuring of data/statistics.
  • Develop support tools using intermediate to expert Excel and/or Access skills for implementation support, tracking and reporting of performance metrics for facility supply expense improvement initiatives.
  • Interpret data concerning financial trends and economic and business forecasts as they relate to the performance metrics and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Consult and advise Health Ministry personnel regarding individualized contract impact and serve as an information resource on related matters.
  • Assist in development of internal controls and validation of supply chain rebates.
  • Assist in development, analysis and evaluation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), quotes, bids and reverse auction contracting strategies.
  • Assist in the development of project management plans and assist in managing and reporting on progress.
  • Assist in communication between the System Office and Health Ministries.

  • Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
  • Work with other supply chain verticals in everyday functions.
  • Pursue continuing education to advance knowledge of supply chain reporting, planning and analysis.

Sr. Analyst

  • Develop support tools using expert Excel and/or Access skills for implementation support, tracking and reporting of performance metrics for facility supply expense improvement initiatives.
  • Interpret data concerning financial trends and economic and business forecasts as they relate to the performance metrics and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Consult and advise Health Ministry personnel regarding individualized contract impact and serve as an information resource on related matters.
  • Assist in development of internal controls and validation of supply chain rebates.
  • Assist in development, analysis and evaluation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), quotes, bids and reverse auction contracting strategies.
  • Assist in the development of project management plans and assist in managing and reporting on progress.
  • Lead research initiatives for solution design, project plan development and manage process to timely completion of goals.
  • Mentor and coach Analysts, as appropriate and where applicable.
  • Assist in communication between the System Office and Health Ministries.
  • Support The Resource Group in achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Perform special assignments or projects as directed.
  • Participate in an Analyst-wide “community” spanning Ascension and its Health Ministries for the purpose of building networks, assisting on projects, attending community-building and training events, sharing leading practices, and providing advice for the betterment of the Analyst community.
  • Act as a representative for The Resource Group in its university recruiting strategy.
  • Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.

Education:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree required.  Candidates slated to graduate in Spring semester of 2014 will also be considered provided degree is achieved prior to start date.

Experience: 

  • Experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities is required.
  • Healthcare experience, supply chain management and/or other similar data analyst experience where analytical and critical thinking skills are considered to be transferable is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The position requires strong analytical and skills with the ability to produce results with moderate supervision. 
  • Critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Time management and the ability to work on multiple projects at one time are vital.

Analyst II -


Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on business, logistics, finance or healthcare, is required. 
  • A Master's degree with a focus on business, logistics, finance or healthcare, is preferred.

  • A minimum of two years applicable experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities is required.
  • Healthcare experience, supply chain management and/or other similar data analyst experience where analytical and critical-thinking skills are considered to be transferable is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce results with minimal supervision are essential and required.
  • Critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at one time are vital.
  • Developed communication skills and the ability to engage clinicians, physicians and executive leadership are needed.
  • Proficient to expert use of spreadsheet, database, presentation and word processing applications are required.
  • Candidates are also required to pass a business case interview and Excel assessment during the interview process.

Sr. Analyst -


Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus on business, logistics, finance or healthcare, is required.
