  • Associate's degree and certified dental assistant (certification) and/or dental hygienist certification REQUIRED.
Key Job Elements:
  1. Provides competency-based education which aligns with the BMC/EDMC model of curricula as well as supports the BMC style of system delivery.
  2. Designs and delivers excellence of class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies, the development of activities which support lesson objectives, and delivers the instruction as approved.
  3. Ensure blended delivery is successful and meaningful for the learner through use of the learning management system, including the faculty development course delivery evaluation form.
  4. Enables the achievement of pre-described exit competencies for student achievement and evaluation of learning by providing instruction which fosters competencies and establishes student performance criteria and evaluation.
  5. Delivers excellence in learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  6. Provides weekly feedback to students, taking special care to provide comprehensive feedback at the conclusion of the mid-term mark, providing struggling students with opportunities to improve.
  7. Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and students and engaging students in the learning process.
  8. Manages the learning environment through keeping accurate records, taking attendance, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies.
  9. Attends a majority of general faculty, departmental and school-wide meetings.
  10. Contributes service to the campus by actively participating on at least one special project committee each year.
  11. Shows quality by saving and submitting anecdotal and/or other evidence of student service within the community or unique student success achievements.
  12. Relates professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.

Reports To:  Department Chair, Department Head of Academic Group or Dean of Academic Affairs
Interacts With:  Academic Affairs department, other school/campus functional areas, curriculum task force and other committees, other faculty, and students

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
1.  Knowledge:

a) Associate's degree and certified dental assistant (certification) and/or dental hygienist certification REQUIRED.
b) Zero to two years experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.
c) Membership in a professional association tied to area of instruction preferred.
      2.  Skills:

a) Ability to communicate abstract and concrete concepts to individuals in both written and oral form.
b) Ability to quickly establish rapport with students and to maintain positive relationships with students, continuing seeking to promote and provide opportunities for student success.

c) Ability to adapt classroom management style and communication style to engage various personalities inside and outside the classroom environment.

d) Able to prepare lesson plans, syllabi, tests, worksheets and other teaching materials with minimal supervision, seeking to provide multiple opportunities for student engagement and success.

e) Must be willing to work long hours, including morning, evening and afternoon course shifts.

f) Must be comfortable with various computer software programs, including presentation and word processing software and email.

g) Must be comfortable utilizing technology in the classroom, including computers, projectors, and ipad, always seeking to use technology to enhance the student experience in the classroom.

h) Must be able to familiarize self with new technology and approaches as opportunities present themselves.

i) Ability to provide potential solutions to problems as well as to listen to potential solutions and then to implement/guide implementation of decided upon strategies, particularly issues dealing with student success, remediation and tutoring.
3.  Abilities:
a) Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines.
b) Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents and be willing to following BMC and regulatory policies, procedures and practices.
c) Ability to develop and complete projects without continued direct supervision
d) Ability to learn from students’ participation and demonstrate fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and shows compassion without being ineffectual

Direct: Education metrics within courses taught (attendance, non-returns, monthly continuing student persistence and monthly new student persistence if applicable) new course preparation and implementation when required by program or new textbook; academic compliance and accreditation, personal and professional development. Specialty program tutoring and review for testing/certification (e.g. nursing, surgical technology, occupational therapy assistant, etc.)
