The Loss Prevention/Risk Management Coordinator (“Coordinator”) serves as the loss prevention/risk management professional at his/her assigned facility/facilities and assists the Director of Risk Management in the overall operations of the Region’s Risk Management Department. The Coordinator performs a wide range of administrative functions to support patient safety, performance improvement and risk management activities in an enterprise risk management environment. The Coordinator is expected to exercise independent judgment in the performance of key job responsibilities.

1. Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field required. Graduate Degree or Juris Doctorate Degree preferred.
1. Minimum of 3 years of healthcare risk management experience required.
2. Three (3) years of legal/paralegal experience or 3 years claims management experience required.
1. Must have the current Texas license required for the applicant’s related field.
2. Licensed property/casualty claims adjuster license a plus, CPHRM a plus

A. Provides support and service to facility/facilities by assisting in the enterprise wide prevention, reduction and control of loss to patients, associates, physicians, visitors, volunteers and property. (E)
B. Assists in the development and coordination of risk identification, risk investigation, and risk reduction activities. (E)
C. Reviews, assesses and analyzes reported risk events, documents in risk management based upon reviews of events uses discretion in prioritizing workflow. (E)
D. Investigates and follows up potentially compensable events identified through the risk event reporting
E. Process and notifies Director of Risk Management, facility administration and System Risk Management of actual and potential claims. (E)
F. Exercises independent judgment in the performance of risk assessments/surveys and record reviews to detect potential risks and identifies opportunities to mitigate risk through the development and implementation of loss prevention activities. (E)
G. Communicates relevant risk management data by providing aggregate data analysis and statistical trending to appropriated associates and committees. (E)
H. Receives and investigates all facility reports involving medical devices and determines appropriate follow-up actions to include the submission of SMDA reports. (E)
I. Completes annual insurance renewal application for the facility/facilities assigned. (E)
J. Manages the assigned facility/facilities professional and general liability and property claims to include interfacing with System Risk Management and external legal counsel. (E)
K. Assists with employment and TOIAP claims as deemed appropriate and as requested.
L. Participates in root cause analysis as related to near misses and sentinel events. (E)
M. Keeps Director of Risk Management informed of significant risk/quality issues. (E)
N. Assists in planning, developing and providing risk management educational presentations. (M)
O. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned responsibilities in a manner that meets the age-specific and developmental needs of the members served by the department. (E)
P. Appropriately adapts assigned assessment, treatment, and/or service method to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each of member served. (E)
