Description: The Director, Clinical Services directs, plans, implements, and evaluates systems impacting quality patient care and workplace safety to maintain industry standards as defined by both accrediting and regulatory agencies. This includes leadership of the overall quality program including responsibility for development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical policies and procedures. The director of Clinical services is responsible for Risk Management Coordination, working closely with operations and physics to reduce patient risk and create a safer work environment through risk analysis, audit processes, and performance improvement. Using the tools of quality management, this individual will assist in conducting root cause and failure mode and effect analyses (FMEA) where required. This position works closely with Regulatory and Billing and Coding Compliance.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Assure the highest standards of clinical quality and safety are met in each facility by educating staff on clinical policies and procedures. Establish and evaluate clinical policies and procedures in cooperation with the Operations and Physics Teams. Monitor facility compliance and make recommendations for changes. Develop and monitor the implementation of standards of practice for the safe delivery of radiation therapy according to national and or site level treatment protocols. Evaluate on a regular basis the process used for simulation, treatment, and imaging of radiation therapy patients. In partnership with the senior physicist develop policies that ensure compliance for site level safety to include, but not limited to, accelerator doors, use of radioactive materials, defibrillators, and regular calibration of small equipment.

2. Maintain the highest level of accreditation deemed appropriate at each facility: Ensure site level adoption of accreditation organizations. ACR practice guidelines and, when appropriate, ensure that centers achieve and maintain ACR accreditation. Ensure team member compliance with hospital partner policies for Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards as necessary. Maintain staff competencies by assisting facility national, and regional managers to assure: Site level technical staffing competencies and adherence to national standards and certifications including ARRT, AAMD, ABR, etc. Maintain regulatory compliance in partnership with corporate compliance officer by: Site level compliance with HIPAA regulations and team member compliance with billing and coding practices while developing standards for regular review

3. Conduct Performance Management processes to analyze risk using such tools as Root Cause Analysis and FMEA in cooperation with the Operations and Physics Team.

4. Serve as Chair of the Clinical Performance Improvement Committee to establish national standards and reviews compliance, including but not limited to site level Quality Assurance (QA). In partnership with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and corporate compliance officer, monitor peer review reports to ensure physician compliance. Evaluate the satisfaction scoring system to determine accuracy of data while presenting regular status reports. Oversee the elements of the GE Outcomes system and of SMART as they relate to outcomes studies. Analyze aggregate patient satisfaction survey responses and provide reports to regional directors and VP's make recommendations for improvement. Develop patient satisfaction survey for SRS site; work with Regional Directors to implement, analyze and report individual and aggregate results. Develop and implement Periodic Performance Review Standards for facility assessment. Reports on all QA dashboards and processes for operating boards and business reviews.

5. Work closely with the Business Development team to move forward potential market share with proforma, ROI estimates and site evaluations. Assume the role of the primary educator on correct coding principles for both professional and technical services. Be responsible for interpreting federal, state and local laws and regulations as it pertains to Medicare and commercial payer policies for patient access.

Job Requirements 

-Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university

-A minimum of five years experience as an RN, Radiation Oncology experience preferred.

-Strong communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving ability a must.

-Must possess organizational skills & a strong attention to detail.

-Knowledge and understanding of Internal Quality Auditing by process.

-Knowledge and understanding of ACR accreditation standards.

-Knowledge and understanding of ASTRO guidelines.

-Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Tools including, but not limited to Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).

-50% travel required to audit and train; general office activities, normal office conditions while in regional offices, predominantly a telecommuting position.
