Marketing Manager - Decorative Calendars
Job Description

ACCO Brands, one of the world’s largest suppliers of branded office products, with annual revenues of nearly $1.8 billion, is seeking a Marketing Manager for our  Decorative Calendar team in Kettering, Ohio.  This role develops the overall plans/programs for assigned products or brands within the Decorative Calendar team.  The Marketing Manager will be responsible for effectively managing the existing product line or category through the complete product life cycle of development to customer placement. This role requires sales interaction, product management, brand marketing, and retail market research. This position also provides direction in the acquisition of nationally known licensed properties and the subsequent development of products using those assets.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops business and marketing plans for assigned products/brands, including pricing strategies, sales plans, and implementation strategies
  • Works closely with all cross functional teams such as: sales, purchasing, creative and manufacturing functions on design, distribution, and product specifications
  • Work closely with a wide range of Licensed content while building strong industry relationships. For each licensed property, manage the product development direction, sales forecasts, and work to maximize the earn out of each licensed deal.
  • Defines market research requirements and works with research manager to develop and execute research plans.Works alongside market research and category management to help determine strategies and/or next steps for new/existing product lines
  • Analyzes consumer research, market conditions, and competitor information when developing new product lines or enhancing existing lines
  • Develops and participates in product/category presentations along with sales to key customers  
  • Participates in the development of the customer mix, merchandising, POG logic and POP communication in the retail, catalog, and on-line channels.
  • Manage annual sales collateral development – including catalogs, cover sets, marketing bulletins and samples.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of products in accordance with published product availability dates by working closely with Creative, Licensing, Supply Chain, and other support teams.
  • Analytical skills and ability to work with category management, market research and POS data to determine market and product strategies
  • Supervise one or more Associate Marketing Managers
  • P&L responsibilities for assigned product line(s)/brand

Job Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree in Marketing or a related field is required
    • Minimum of 4 years of marketing experience is required, preferably product management experience
  • Knowledge and application of marketing theories and principles
  • Experience working with licensed properties
  • Experience in product development and/or brand management
  • Experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies
  • Strong Communication, project management, managerial and presentation skills
  • Motivated, driven and hard working individual who is comfortable leading meetings and making decisions
  • Strong problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Team Leadership and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of many diverse retail channels of distribution (not just mass market)
  • Travel:  Approximately 15-20%
