Description: SUMMARY: Alliance Oncology, in partnership with University Medical Center Brackenridge, is currently seeking a dedicated Oncology Nurse to join our team. This individual will support the clinical duties of the Center Leadership and will work closely with the Radiation Oncologists to assess patient status, develop and implement patient care plans, and evaluate patient results. This individual will also work with a talented team who values patient care above all else.

The primary responsibilities of this role will include:

•Completing patient assessments and patient consultations with a specific focus on assessing patients for radiation therapy side effects and providing appropriate nursing interventions.
•Performing laboratory functions such as blood/specimen collection, as needed, to assist with patient care evaluation.
•Educating patients and family members regarding their diagnosis, explaining their specialized treatment, and offering ways to minimize side effects.
•Providing emotional support to patients, and their families, while making referrals to community and hospital support services (such as social work, home care, ACS, etc.) as needed.
•Patient navigation and assisting with the scheduling of patient consultations, simulations, follow-up visits, and any outpatient lab tests, x-rays, scans, etc. as needed.
•Working with the radiation oncologists on all patient care, follow-up, and medical management
•Maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of all patient activities, including exams, diagnostic testing, medications, infusions, injections, etc.
•Overseeing the maintenance and care of examination equipment and supplies
•Maintaining stock levels of supplies and materials, checks for outdates, and ensures complete and organized stocking of the center exam rooms.
•Coordinating and directing center support groups and screening efforts.

Job Requirements 

Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university is preferred, Minimum of 2 years of related oncology nursing experience preferred.

Hospice nurse and/or triage nurse experience a plus.

Must have current nursing license.
