Job Description

The Branch Manager will manage all functions in a branch to provide acceptable return on controllable assets while improving WESCO's market share on a consistent and regular basis.
•         Plan, develop and implement specific actions and programs in accordance with the WESCO management sales plan
•         Identify the market potential by industry and update annually
•         Develop, implement and adjust as necessary a branch sales plan designed to increase market penetration
•         Hire, deploy and manage outside salespersons to provide coverage of total branch geography/assigned market segments while assuring adequate potential for individual territory development
•         Develop outside salespersons by providing sales technique and product training through personal example, coaching and timely formal and informal training sessions
•         Call on customers, managers and principals of key accounts to foster growth and ensure adequate coverage, penetration and customer service
•         Conduct quarterly reviews with outside salespersons to focus on performance against objectives by account, product code and provide counseling, help and motivation to achieve objectives
•         Develop a team working relationship between all employees clearly defining each member's primary and secondary responsibilities and how each relates to others within the branch
•         Ensure adequate delegation of authority to Branch Operations Manager and all branch subordinates to carry out responsibilities and tasks. The limitations to this authority must be clearly defined and communicated
•         Establish and control pricing levels while implementing policies and programs to improve margins
•         Develop and maintain cooperative relationships consistent with good commercial policies with regard to selected suppliers
•         Support and breed winners in all district, region and headquarters’ programs, campaigns, and promotions and utilize them as 'tools' to improve sales, margins and overall performance
•         Assist Financial Services in exercising WESCO policies as they pertain to the extension of credit, the collection of accounts receivable, the attainment of acceptable days outstanding, and the minimization of potential losses
•         Oversee inventory administration by Branch Operations Manager to ensure adequate stock to provide excellent customer service, while maintaining an acceptable month’s supply
•         Ensure the branch is taking an active role in negotiating lower costs and extended payment terms from our key suppliers
•         Manage yearly employee reviews based on performance against measurable objectives
•         Assist the Branch Operations Manager in the selection, hiring, development, promotion, demotion and/or dismissal of non-exempt employees
•      Develop and implement a plan to provide premium customer service and to review performance against objectives regularly
•      Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements

Understanding of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources  Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction  Strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills  Excellent computer skills  Strong sales ability, financial aptitude, leadership and people skillsEXPERIENCE  Minimum of 5 years of successful selling experience in the electrical distribution industry  Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and flexibilityEDUCATION  High school diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
