The Senior Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, analyzing account data and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. The Senior Accountant is capable of pursuing unstructured projects with a focus on developing and applying structure going forward.Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Monthly Activities:§ Various accounting related journal entriesPrepare, analyze and reconcile off-system monthly activityMonitor intercompany notes, interest, prepaymentsInterface with Treasury to prepare and record accounting entries for daily cash activity and provide monthly accounts receivable securitization analysisPrepare and analyze consolidated rollforwards for debt, deferred financing, goodwill and intangiblesPrepare and analyze month-end accounting entries related to real estate, bonds, insurance, prepaids, misc. recurring entries, amortization of intangibles, debt and investment activity, etcDevelop an understanding of the company’s international legal entity structure, intercompany and multi-currency transactions in support of month-end close as well as tax legal entity reorganization analysis and entriesMonth end consolidation – includes performing various elimination and reclass entries, translating international ledgers, performing FX translation proof and rollforward, preparing a TB, running various statements, etcPerform detailed account reconciliations and reconcile detailed sub ledgers and off-system activity with general ledger accountsPrepare Accounting department month-end close binder and coordinate quarterly account reconciliation meetingsEnsure proper flow of processes to maintain accurate and timely monthly closingReview various journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by other accountantsAssist with and / or lead acquisition related projects such as due diligence support, chart-of-account mappings, off-system template creation and purchase accountingAssist with and / or lead special projects such as goodwill impairment analysis, inventory reserve rates, LEAN improvement projects, etcPerform expense reviews for select corporate departments and provide guidance to department if necessarySupport Controllers, Internal Audit and outside auditors in review of financial information as well as execute and interpret analysis as directed by Finance ManagementActively foster continuous improvement in department functionsEnsure transparency of important transactions and issues via communications within chain of command of department and field operationsIdentify discrepancies resulting from system issues and guide resolution in accordance with accepted accounting policies and proceduresAdvises accountants on proper handling of non-routine transactionsCollaborate with other departments to meet company goalsEnsure proper flow of processes to maintain accurate and timely monthly closingObtain and maintain a thorough understanding of our system integrationsCreate and maintain an environment of continuous improvement of department functions and accounting control procedures
Bachelor’s Degree – Business Administration, AccountingCPA, MBA or equivalent a plusThree to five years of Accounting experience; Preferably public accounting assurance services (auditing)Ability to pursue unstructured projects with a focus on developing and applying structure going forwardWell organized with attention to detail and accuracyStrong oral and written communications skills – ability to clearly communicate accounting ideas and concepts to an audience with a wide range of experiences and knowledgeProven problem solving and analytical capabilitiesShown initiativeAbility to simultaneously pursue individual and group objectivesSkilled in Microsoft Office Excel and WordProficiency in Oracle Financials a plusAbility to maintain positive relationships with employees and management inside and outside the department
