II. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for clerical support for various pediatric clinics, to include answering phones, making appointments, filing, assisting patients to exam rooms, discharging patients, etc. Also responsible for chart preparation prior to clinic and assisting the MD as needed. KEY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Answers clinic phones and takes messages or transfers as appropriate. (E)B. Makes patient appointments for various clinics. (E)C. Compile clinic lists and distributes to registration and medical records two days prior to clinic. (E)D. Files lab, x-ray, and other reports/correspondence in the medical record. Keeps medical records in proper order for assigned clinics. (E)E. Assists patients in and out of exam rooms and straightens up rooms between patients. Assists with patient flow during clinics. (E)F. Enter lab and x-ray into the computer as needed. Enters daily charges. (E)G. Assists patients/families with referrals, and discharges. (E)H. Obtain immunization record from computer. (M)I. Light typing and correspondence as necessary. (E)J. Sends reminder to patient of upcoming appt, and notifies patients of missed appointments by mail. (M)K. Obtains vital signs as requested. (E)L. Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department. (E)M. Appropriately adapts assigned patient care assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific and other developmental needs of each patient served. QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION:1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or secretarial program preferred. B. EXPERIENCE:1. Two (2) years in a medical setting with medical terminology knowledge preferred. C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:1. None D. EQUIPMENT/SKILLS:1. Familiarity with computers, faxes, and multi-line phones preferred. 2. Must be friendly and work well with people. 3. Must be able to accurately prioritize duties. 4. Knowledge/experience using blood pressure monitor and thermometer preferred. E. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Works in well lit, air conditioned/heated facility. 2. Majority of time will be spent sitting or standing. 3. May possibly encounter body fluids. 4. Possible exposure to infectious diseases. F. OTHER:1. Spanish speaking desirable. 2.
