Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Operations Officer at our Arlington, Virginia location. 

                                                                        

General                                                                         

 

The incumbent provides the necessary supervision and guidance to all assigned staff, ensuring high quality member service as well as achievement of all unit performance goals. Under limited supervision, the incumbent also approves, pends or declines loan applications within delegated authority while adhering to Federal regulations and PenFed standards, policies and procedures.



Duties

Reviews and evaluates loan applications and approves, pends or declines member's loan requests; refers loans outside their authority level to a Senior Lender with recommendations and justifications, when necessary.

Oversees the daily activities of assigned staff and provides input to performance appraisals.

 

Works with assigned staff to ensure that performance standards are being met.  Counsels individual staff members on best practices and takes part in mentoring and coaching activities designed to maximize staff performance

Analyzes departmental lending operations and procedures and recommends updates and changes.                                                                        

                                                                               

Develops form letters and assists in the formatting and completion of more complex letters.  

                                                                           

Reviews and evaluates questions and correspondence from loan applicants regarding pending or approved loans and takes appropriate action.                

                                                                               

Contacts other institutions as needed to obtain information necessary to evaluate member loan requests. 

                                                      

Counsels members and potential members regarding all types of PenFed loan and share products, policies and procedures and resolves more complex member problems, making exceptions to policy when necessary.  Policy exceptions must be within designated authority.                            

                                                                                

Maintains a current knowledge of PenFed loan and share products and promotes these products to eligible members and potential members.                      

                                                                                

Prepares loan applications to be disbursed.

 

Participates in quality reviews.

                                                                               

Provides guidance and training to staff and ensures that new products and procedures are communicated to staff in a timely manner.                            

                                                                               

Informs Manager or Assistant Manager of issues relating to staff and operations, and recommends changes as necessary.  In the absence of the Manager or Assistant Manager, is responsible for all aspects of unit or branch operations.                                                

                                                                               

May act as an Assistant Treasurer within delegated authority.                     

                                                                               

Maintains necessary production reports.                                        

 

Participates in cross-divisional projects and provides support to other departments as required, such as fulfilling the role of Mortgage Consultant or DCC Counselor.

 

Responsible for coaching and assisting all staff to meet sales and productivity goals.

 

Assumes role of Assistant Manager in their absence.

 

Assists Information Technology Department with testing new systems.

Job Requirements

                                                        

Associates degree in related field or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.   
                                           

One to two years of progressively responsible related work experience required. 
       

Strong written and oral communication skills required.
