Quality Assurance Analyst

The Quality Assurance Analyst role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Cary, NC. Target salary range is up to $70,000. Local candidates strongly preferred. No sponsorship available.

Responsibilities of the QA Analyst:
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing test plans, test scripts, and test methodologies that ensure exhaustive testing of all assigned software systems to ensure compliance with software/system specifications.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive test plans to ensure software requirements are met.
  • Maintain a high degree of error free programs, procedures, systems, and documentation on all software application releases.
  • Create, maintain and modify test plans for new and existing software applications/releases that ensure comprehensive testing according to the software specifications.
  • Anticipate potential software problems by creating exhaustive test scenarios that ensure comprehensive testing.
  • Document all testing results in conjunction with test plans.
  • Testing all aspects of new feature development for web based applications (which are dependent on user and setup configuration).
  • Work with other QA team members to develop and maintain test scripts/test cases to maintain high levels of quality to support the Applications.
  • Identify and analyze defects/test results and be able to deduct the chain of events leading to a failure.
  • Collaborate with developers to resolve issues discovered during the QA process.
  • Collaborate with Documentation for each project feature/release for feedback review.
  • Communicate critical issues and status updates in a timely manner.
    • Work with TurnOver (event tracking) to provide QA testing for customer issues
    • Information gathering with business owners to help understand finalized Requirements.
  • Manage processes for moving applications from test to production environments.
  • Schedule and maintain distribution cycles to customer base twice a week.
  • Perform routine audits of customer systems to maintain consistent software levels.
  • Develop and implement new client processes.
  • Educate and train peers on the QA process and provide guidance to them when they are unclear about the process.
  • Remain current on changes and new developments on existing and new software applications/releases (i.e., attend lunch and learn meetings).
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with peers in Product Development, User Support and external clients.

Job Requirements

Qualifications of the QA Analyst:
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree with a major in IT, CS, CIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years development experience in which the largest part has been spent delivering/testing web applications.
  • Database experience with knowledge of SQL, relational database principles and JDBC connection technology (e.g. MySQL, IBM DB2)
  • Proficient in analyzing software requirements and documenting technical specifications for a web application
  • Experience with the full software development life cycle, including design, testing, deployment, and documentation activities
  • Aptitude for learning and applying programming concepts ? Experience in developing new systems and maintaining existing systems
  • Capable of reasoning and thinking through problems and be able to independently and jointly develop desired solutions
  • Self motivated and willing to "do what it takes" to get the job done
  • Client-focused attitude with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate and share solutions with fellow team members
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills not necessarily associated with programming
  • Committed team player with positive winning attitude
  • Ability to work within a team and work independently
  • Experience testing IBM iSeries with RPG code

Other Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Web application testing, tools and techniques
  • Experience testing User Interface knowledge, JSON, XML, HTML, AJAX, and JavaScript frameworks
  • Strong User Interfacing knowledge and experience testing in multiple browsers
  • Experience testing Web Services oriented architecture
  • Experience with SVN or other source Controlled environments or Configuration Management
  • Scripting with Selenium and/or Java
  • Experience with a Distributed Client base environment
