Great Opportunity for a Database Marketing Manager  (posted July 24,  2014) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Gaming Hospitality Executive is assisting a company identify a candidate with experience in being responsible for the development and implementation of database marketing initiatives.

Job description for the position of Database Marketing Manager is as follows:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of database marketing initiatives that serve to attract new customers as well as maintain and retain existing customers.
  • Responsible for executing all aspects of data related activities and administering the production of direct mail and player lists.
  • Responsible for overseeing all database marketing projects to ensure accuracy and integrity of all offers, customer lists and customer records. 
  • Responsible for evaluating and inputting all marketing customer list requests.
  • Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of database marketing efforts and making recommendations.
  • Responsible for assisting in the development and execution of effective prospect and retention marketing programs for the property.
  • Responsible for maintaining current operating knowledge of necessary system functions to effectively coordinate database marketing projects.
  • Responsible for accurately tracking redemption of all database marketing programs.
  • Responsible for producing timely analysis reports to determine profitability of database marketing programs.
  • Responsible for adhering to all regulatory, company and department policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for assisting in developing procedures and controls in accordance with established policies.
  • Responsible for assisting in the research, analysis and development of new systems for revenue growth.
  • Responsible  for working with multiple departments to monitor and identify areas in which IT systems can be implemented to reduce labor costs, increase customer satisfaction, and increase revenue.
  • Responsible for researching competitor’s usage of technology, as well as new technologies that may be of interest.
  • Responsible for developing queries and procedures to extract and communicate required information.
  • Responsible for utilizing MS Access, MS Excel, Cognos, Oracle or another SQL client to add functionality to developed systems.
  • Responsible for using existing databases to create reports and answer key questions about guest activity such as inquiries regarding demographics, profitability, program redemption, etc.
  • Responsible for assisting in the creation of Return on Investment spreadsheets.
  • Responsible for assisting and participating in marketing functions as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in developing databases marketing plans and budgets.
  • Responsible for working with minimal supervision, being detail and result-oriented, maintaining a high level of accuracy and integrity, and have excellent time management skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of customer information.
  • Responsible for reading, analyzing and interpreting financial reports and marketing analysis reports.
  • Responsible for working closely with related departments to manage and utilize the customer databases to consistently yield the most profitable mix of business.
  • Responsible for developing, providing and utilizing data driven decisions and efficient data extraction.
  • Responsible for providing solid project management skills to manage multi-faceted, complex direct-marketing programs with both internal and external vendor/agencies.
  • Responsible for working closely with F&B, IT, Accounting and direct mail vendors.
  • Responsible for analyzing customer and group trends and providing monthly reports.
  • Responsible for coordinating the data production of all direct mail pieces and ensuring that vendor/support is equipped with all of the data related information necessary.
  • Responsible for providing training as assigned for employees.
  • Responsible for providing systems training related to promotions, special events and on-going promotions.
  • Responsible for fielding patron complaints when they become issues or inquiries. 

Job Requirements

The following qualifications are required for the Database Marketing Manager position:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Information Technology and/or appropriate database marketing/casino experience preferred.
  2. Thorough knowledge and understanding of tracking and analysis system.
  3. Experience with quantitative analysis and/or statistics, including one year experience in programming languages (C++, Visual Basic, Java and SQL) helpful along with experience using relational databases (Access, SQL Server), Showcase and general financial analysis.
  4. Excellent organizational skills; experience with Microsoft Office programs; superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to function both independently and in a team-oriented unit. Excellent project management and communication skills required. Must have intermediate MS Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint skills.
  5. Must have well rounded marketing and customer relations skills.
  6. Ability to develop and implement, as well as provide training for new programs initiatives.
  7. Proficient in computers, including database applications, e-mails and Internet.
  8. Knowledge of applicable law, regulations, rules, procedures and administration if preferred.
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
  10. Ability to make presentations both written and oral.
  11. Must be able to meet with various outside agencies and vendors on a professional level.
