Job Description


Construction Administrator reports directly to the Construction Project Manager in providing Building Owner oversight and management of a design-bid-build firm fixed price construction contract. Construction contract has been awarded. The Construction Administrator (CA) is responsible for the documentation associated with the construction of a complex renovation project. The observation must be accompanied by evaluation in support of the Contract Documents. The candidate will be expected to be able to immediately engage in the documentation/ observation and documentation of multi trade construction progress. Reading and understanding of the Contract Documents is a requirement for this position. Must also be able to read and interpret shop drawings, RFIs, RFPs , Inspection reports, Test Reports, O&M manuals and Commissioning Documents. Candidate will also maintain the As-Built set of drawings. Candidates will have excellent technical writing skills and be capable of understanding, using and communicating in construction terminology. All construction will be photographed and labeled. IT skills and a familiarity with the OSHA and NFPA standards are a plus.As the Construction Administrator, this position will document the construction process and progress.• Establish and maintain construction documentation and provide observation support for a technically detailed mid-size construction project. • Receive, process, organize, and log construction documentation including submittals, correspondence, contractor payment applications, requests for information, proposed change orders, etc.• Electronic Daily Construction Logs and Weekly Status Reports are among the required deliverables. An accurate record of the time, materials, trades and equipment on site is required. Candidates will observe field tests, deliveries and note all pertinent information. This job is located in an existing and operating AT&T office. Office conditions are typical of a construction site. Candidate will be expected to work flexible hours, including shifts. The hours will vary based on the needs of the construction schedule. Hours of operation are expected to go 12 hours a day, 5 days a week but may involve additional evenings and weekends. • Establish & monitor administrative procedures for the project. • Prepare, formalize and return documentation and correspondence under the guidance of the Construction Project Manager and established company policies and procedures.• Establish, maintain, and manage photographic documentation of construction. • Daily observation and documentation of construction progress. • Generate meeting minutes for meetings attended.• Coordinate and correspond with the designing engineer and architect. • Adhere to established project safety and security requirements at all times. • Organize work & train escort staff on project requirements and expectations. • Develops, maintains, and distributes project and construction management reports and operational and administrative documentation. • Manage on-site document control program. (Including logging, tracking, and issuing of all documents and media.) Attention to detail, maintain high quality standards. • Maintains project documentation; modifies construction documents and drawings to record actual construction, and to generate printed project plans. • Enforces quality control standards, in accordance with local and state regulations and codes and recognized industry standards, methods, and procedures, including those established by ANSI - EIA/TIA, BICSI, and BOCA. • Support the Construction Project Manager. Support may include drafting reports, presentations, or other communications. • Perform other duties and take on other responsibilities as required. There is no relocation associated with this position. This is a temporary position, expecting to last 24 months. This job is located on an active construction site. Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires the ability to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate.

Job Requirements

5 years experience in Construction Administration• 8 years of building construction experience required• 2 years Project Management experience• Bachelors Degree• Proficient in MS Office Base Applications (Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook).• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.• Very strong English oral & written communication skill. Excellent technical writing skills• Ability to read and interpret construction contract documents for all disciplines• Possess demonstrable leadership and problem solving skills.• Be highly dependable and act with limited oversight

Required Clearance: DoD Top Secret

Desired: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/ Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/ Construction. • CDT Certification.• 2+ years of Data Center/Telecom Facilities or Critical Facilities focused construction experience.
