Quality Assurance/ R&D Technician

Job Description


American Resource is currently seeking a QA/ R&D with experience in food manufacturing. The QA/R&D will assist the Director of QA/R&D in all product development duties related to company and private label products to ensure product formulations, specification and implementation meet requirements relative to cost, quality and consistency.


Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct research & development of new and existing formulations; translating relevant consumer insights into design attributes. Communicate development plans, timing, trial results and recommendations to the NPD team.
  • Investigate properties of ingredients, including their interaction and effect on final product performance.
  • Coordinate and execute effective scale-up strategy with Quality and Production.
  • Provide technical assistance to Production personnel as needed to successfully scale –up and launch, working with outside suppliers and co-manufacturers as needed.
  • Effectively document research protocols and conclusions for Team understanding, while proactively managing intellectual property guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and keep abreast of any relevant technology innovations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, and packaging method to reduce cost, increase efficiency and/or productivity.
  • Verify the supplier approval process which includes documentation of supplier programs, review/approval of specifications, Certificates of analysis and letters of guarantee. Work with suppliers/co-manufactures when non-conforming product is identified issuing SCARS reports and documenting necessary corrective action.
  • Coordinate lab sample testing and reports as needed.
  • Assist Quality and Production teams with resolution of process control and product quality opportunities.
  • Assist Quality to perform quality duties in the absence of the Quality Technician
  • Generate Nutritional data for new products and review current products nutritionals using Genesis database.
  • Manage Marine Stewardship Council, Organic and Kosher Certification program.
  • Verify traceability of products and raw materials.
  • Other tasks may be assigned as needed.




Job Requirements

Job Specifications:

  • Degree in Culinary design, Nutrition or Food Science required.
  • Knowledge of Food Genesis program.
  • Experience in product development and design
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to details.
  • Have a can do attitude, leadership qualities, strong communication skills and be a team player.
