Thermal Mechanical Engineer


Thermal Mechanical Engineer will focus on system level thermal performance characterization, as well as component level thermal solution empirical evaluation. Major duties include thermal and airflow testing and verification of new product development. Work scope covers thermal and airflow testing, planning and execution, data reduction, reporting writing, analysis, conclusions and communication


Essential Functions of the Thermal Mechanical Engineer:

  • Work with engineering development teams to validate system thermal performance. Assist in troubleshooting thermal issues at various stages of development cycle or reported by customers.

  • Perform system thermal and airflow testing. Functions include thermocouple installation, automated data acquisition, thermal chamber operation, airflow test chamber operation.

  • Test setup, data analysis, and technical report writing.

  • Basic machine shop experience and ability to modify/rework sheet metal and Aluminum/Copper heat sinks (desired skill).

  • Thermal and airflow lab management including: lab space organization, equipment calibration, lab material purchase and inventory management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively within multifunctional teams.

  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.


Job Requirements

Requirements and Education of the Thermal Mechanical Engineer:

  • B.S. degree in related engineering field such as mechanical or electrical engineering, or AS/AA with related work experience.

  • Hands-on experience with temperature and airflow testing.

  • Good at report writing and documentation.

  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-motivation.

  • Team player.


The Thermal Mechanical Engineer is a 6-month contract role with one of our clients in Sunnyvale, CA.  Target rate range is up to $61.59/hr.  Local candidates strongly preferred.  No sponsorship or C2C arrangements available.
