Job Description

Description:  This position will provide IT systems engineering, systems design, documentation, setup, testing, development & roll-out responsibilities. The position will also be the Level III escalation to the Helpdesk team (Associate, LAN/WAN Administrator). In addition, the Engineer of IT Systems will perform project management on assigned projects.

The scope of the position also requires managing implementation projects falling under the scope of the Region for Liner and Logistics. This position requires 24/7 on-call support responsibilities. Travel will be minimum.

Accountabilities:  (Key Result Areas)
Systems engineer ensures systems reliability and availability by performing risk assessment, proposal of systems refresh/replacement, design and implement IT systems upon management approval
Resolves Tier 3 helpdesk issues and escalate all others
Performs project management on assigned projects

Key Accountabilities/Duties:
Provides system / server / storage administration to ensure IT systems uptime, including but not limited to:
Drive the execution and delivery of departmental objectives, including problem definition, and recommendation of changes to systems, infrastructure or processes.
Collaborate, review and provide feedback for the improvement of IT systems or infrastructure, processes, and procedures. Work with external vendors as needed.
Follow strict change management disciplines and best practices.
Review & assess the existing IT infrastructure to identify gaps; propose solutions to address the gaps; develop specifications and a project plan to replace/upgrade the needed system(s)
Create and maintain proper design specifications, IT systems documentation and operational documentations.
Support and report on multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines.
Ensure that Service Level Agreements are created, maintained and constantly monitored to meet business requirements and enhance end user productivity.
Lead projects upon requests. Install and maintain site equipment such as, but not limited to, Local Area Networks, voice and data communications, site hardware, software and infrastructure. Directly or indirectly assist other groups in IT services to help them complete their specific tasks. Meet or exceed mutually established key objectives.
Follow and enforce IT corporate standards and policies.
Provides Tier 3 Help Desk Support to “Client" customers per escalation or when needed, including, but not limited to:
Ensuring Service Level Agreements are maintained and constantly monitored to meet business requirements and enhance end user productivity
Ensuring basic system hardware (PCs, printers, LXEs) are maintained and upgraded as needed

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Education Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experiences
6-7 years Server, storage, virtualization, Network, Wireless networks, PBX or VOIP experience required. CCNA certification preferred
Skill Sets
Windows Active Directory (2003-2008-2012), VMware, SAN/NAS, Cisco Routing/Switching & IOS, 802.11, Security, VPN, Firewall, TCP/IP, SNMP.
