Financial Analyst

 

We seek a Financial Analyst who will conduct metric development and analysis in support of departmental goals. This individual will provide consultation to management and executive staff regarding trends, forecasting and strategic planning and support management. Provide both scheduled and ad hoc reports and analysis. Quantify results and correlate to performance metrics for the Finance Department.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Creating, automating, modifying and maintaining existing MS Excel worksheets, as well as MS Access databases. Ensure regular updates to report templates are correct, provide timely/ accurate business analysis and deliver daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reports as required.
  • Perform data analysis and highlight business issues, trends and financial implications that will impact service and operational results. Present findings to upper level management and C-level executives.
  • Effectively collaborate with subject matter experts in different operating departments—primarily Human Resources, Sales, Finance and Claims—bridging communication gaps and significantly reducing information barriers.
  • Performs monthly variance analysis of actual results to budgeted/forecasted performance and makes recommendations
  • Prepares monthly reports and variance analysis for management review, participates in short and long range financial planning and forecasting and prepares ad hoc financial reports.

 

 Requirements:

 

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience.  Master degree preferred
  • High level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications with a strong concentration in MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical ability and logical thinking, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
  • Experience in maintaining project and support documentation.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply corporate finance, financial modeling, business valuation and/or accounting skills required 

 

 

 

Desired but not required:

 

  • Experience in creating ad hoc queries in a SQL Server 2000 (SP4) environment and migrating business/insurance data into MS Access and MS Excel for reporting, underwriting criteria analysis, audit verification, and producer new business and inforce activity. Additionally, should have experience in creating correspondence for client follow-up and verification.
  • Experience in relational databases and other database management systems a plus.
