Job Description

The primary purpose of a Collector is to reduce delinquency of defaulted student loans with extensive skip tracing and negotiating efforts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing extensive internet research to locate consumers via skip tracing
  • Heavy outbound calling and speaking with individuals
  • Writing accurate account notes to record all collection activities performed
  • Recovering defaulted student loans using strategic collection techniques
  • Educating consumers about repayment options, negotiating repayment arrangements, and performing necessary account maintenance and follow-up
  • Obtaining necessary documents in order to facilitate any repayment agreements and/or other resolutions
  • Available for incoming phone calls from consumers and processing consumer requests/instructions on accounts
  • Managing and maintaining a desk inventory of assigned consumer accounts
  • Performing all duties in compliance with Company’s core values, policies and procedures, clients’ standards, and federal and state laws
  • Maintaining a positive attitude, a high level of ethics, and professionalism
  • Performing other business related duties and tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual a plus
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Intermediate Level - Word and Excel
  • Must be able to work 40+ hours a week
  • Able to obtain and maintain eligibility for state collection licenses/registrations
  • Able to obtain and maintain federal government security clearance for employment for a public trust or sensitive position



Physical Skills and Abilities:


  • Hand dexterity
  • Able to talk and hear
  • Occasionally required to stand or walk and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds



Work Environment:


Employee works in an office environment. Employee sits for long periods of time at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours; answers and makes telephone calls using a standard telephone; types on a standard keyboard; reads and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
