Job Description

Aviva Family and Children’s Services seeks a fulltime Nurse to work in our 36-bed residential facility for at-risk adolescent girls.

Job Description
Under the supervision of the Lead Nurse, the LVN evaluates and supervises the health and health-related problems of the clients, coordinates and arranges all medical and dental services for clients, prepares and maintains the medical/health treatment plan in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team members.  Prepares and delivers resident education series in health-related issues including: health and hygiene; HIV/AIDS; and human sexuality.  Responsible for upholding regulations established by the Departments of Children and Family Services, Probation and Mental Health of the County of Los Angeles

Job Duties
  • Periodically review and administer health screenings on residents
  • Assess health and health-related problems of residents and develop treatment plans
  • Arrange and assist in provision of on and off-site medical services
  • Prepare and maintain medical records and health/medical service plans
  • Create opportunities for and teach skills in the areas of health, hygiene, fitness, nutrition, sexuality and infection control
  • Administer and monitor medication
  • Determine insurance benefits (Medi-Cal and/or other coverage) for each resident and maintain compliance with billing and eligibility guidelines

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

High School diploma required

Experience working with severely emotionally disturbed youth in residential, hospital or school setting preferred

1-2 years of professional experience preferred 



Must be Licensed Vocational Nurse

Complete all required professional training to maintain license and keep record of current license on file with Human Resources Department

CPR/First Aid Certification           

Valid CA driver’s license                          


Additional Requirements

Tuberculosis clearance

Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance

Satisfactory completion of health screening

Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States

Satisfactory driving record


School schedule


Friday & Saturday: 1pm – 9pm

Sunday: 7am – 3pm

Monday & Tuesday: 6:30am – 2:30pm

Wed & Thurs off


Summer Schedule


Friday & Saturday: 1pm – 9pm

Sunday & Monday: 7an – 3pm

Tuesday: 9am – 5pm

Wed & Thurs off

$17-19/hr + benefits and PTO
