Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Chemist for a very important client.

Job Duties : Performs analytical testing in a cGMP - follows written procedures and documents variances to written procedures. Ensures all experiments comply with safe laboratory practices and standards. Frequent application of regulatory standards to drugs and devices. Assists in compiling regulatory submissions. May participate in projects related to Quality Assurance. Commitment to work in a collaborative and dynamic research field. Strong time management and prioritization skills are required for management of multiple projects.

Oversees compliance to timelines for own work and may provide oversight of work performed by team members in the project he/she works. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, scientific procedures and regulatory guidelines. Ability to work with mathematical concepts relevant to laboratory data interpretation is a must. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practival situations is required. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Senior Chemist position that works as part of an analytical team under cGMP regulations and guidance in the medical device arena. The position works with chemists and technicians that support research & development, product support and quality control. The position requires technique expertise in the areas of surface chemistry, report writing, and materials characterization.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position has responsibility for analyzing and reporting surface chemistry testing from Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and optical microscopy techniques. Also required is writing reports and following instrument operating procedures and standard operating procedures. Other responsibilities include the documentation of findings in electronic laboratory notebooks and compliance with all Company quality procedures and practices.


Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will need the following:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or similar, experience with SEM, EDS and optical microscopy, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work and be effective with minimal supervision, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills that are results oriented, strong ability to understand mathematical concepts related to laboratory data interpretation, and Microsoft Word & Excel proficiency.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MS in Materials Science or similar with 3+ years of experience, hands on working use of white light interferometer, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, particle size analysis and nano-mechanical testing, experience with regulated quality systems, an understanding of cGMP, FDA and ISO requirements.
