JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Care Manager for the Neonatal Intensive Care unit (NICU) will be responsible and accountable for over-seeing the operations on her/his respective shift. The Patient Care Manager retains 24/7 accountability. Duties include directing delivery of quality, patient-centered care in a financially responsible manner. This is in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Patient Care Manager and Clinical Director.
Some weekend coverage.

Job Requirements


Education:Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s degree preferred.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills to maintain an open network of communication among staff members, care center and sector leadership, and other health care professionals and departments.

Experience:
Minimum of two years nursing experience in NICU.
Charge Nurse experience with demonstrated leadership skills required.

Licensure:
Current RN Illinois license.

JOB DUTIES
*Recognizes and identifies clinical practice problems, patient care standards, implements solutions.
* Assists in making staffing decisions independently and in collaboration with the PCM.
* Complies with standards and regulations of various licensing, regulatory and accrediting agencies.
* Demonstrates awareness of and compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
* Creates a work climate that encourages positive staff morale, motivation, and commitment for all patient care team members.
*Assists & collaborates with the PCMs in supporting changes, new and existing programs with staff input and feedback.
* Identifies issues, presents strategies and acts as a change agent to resolve patient care issues.
*In collaboration with the PCMs and Clinical Director assures compliance with JCAHO regulations for mandatory continuing education.
* Demonstrates knowledge of new products and equipment related to specialty area.
* Assists in identifying issues to be examined, collect and analyze data, and report to QI committee and staff.
* Collaborates with the PCMs on effecting change in-patient care delivery and operations based on research, quality and improvement findings.
*Determines own professional needs through ongoing self-assessment and evaluation of role performance and assumes responsibility for meeting those needs.
