Description
Support efforts to develop and maintain the technical specifications for physician clinical performance measures developed by the AMA-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, including data definitions, coding and algorithms required for obtaining the required performance measures data elements from multiple data sources. Provide assistance and expertise on potential integration of clinical performance measures into health information technology, particularly electronic health record systems. Contribute to the design and analysis of projects that will test performance measures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in medical informatics, health services research, public health, information science, nursing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a health care, clinical performance measurement, or IT environment.
- Experience in paper medical record documentation and medical coding, including CPT®, ICD-9, LOINC®, SNOMED, NDC required. SNOMED experience is a plus.
- Experience with health information technology, particularly electronic health record systems, in the ambulatory or hospital environments.
- Understanding of clinical performance measurement required.
- Familiarity with national organizations involved in clinical performance measures (eg, Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, JCAHO, NCQA).
- Knowledge of HL-7 standards, XML markup language, and other technical standards related to electronic health record systems.
