Requirements

Description

 

The Cancer Registrar analyzes, abstracts, and codes demographic, patient and cancer related information, treatment and staging from the medical records on all cancer cases seen and or diagnoses at designated facility; identifies eligibility of cancer patients in the registry and obtains interesting cases from medical staff and pathologists; prepares agenda for conference and assures that pathology and radiology material for conferences is available. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION:  High School diploma or GED

REQUIRED EXPEREINCE:  Two years of Cancer Registrar

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:  CTR

REQUIRED SPECIFIC SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret medical records including diagnostic, operative, and pathology FORDS, AJCC and TNM staging standards and reporting,  written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, organizational skills, time management skills, computer skill appropriate to position and critical thinking.
