Description


Lead and oversee global payer and reimbursement strategies so that these garner continued pricing effectiveness and optimized patient access to Inflammation therapies. Be responsible for the development of a global Strategic Value Plan - addressing the targeted pricing and reimbursement status and the corresponding value claims needed to achieve these targets with payers in terms of relative therapeutic value, patient reported outcomes, healthcare system impact and cost-effectiveness for assigned life cycle products. As a core member of the Life Cycle Team and the International Business Team, lead the LC team in the development of the payer value strategy concept (creating a pricing and reimbursement strategy in key markets), payer value strategy plan (developing tactics to achieve the pricing and reimbursement strategy), burden of illness report (including patterns of care, outcomes of care and costs of care), and the production of the Global Value Dossier. Lead the International Payer Strategy Team comprised of functional counterparts in key affiliates, the International Business Leader, the International Business Analyst, and other ad hoc members in order to produce a global payer positioning strategy which draws appropriately upon affiliates' local market expertise and input, and that coordinates and aligns affiliates' payer/economic messages, pricing, and reimbursement plans with LCT objectives. Work within cross-functional teams and influence the brand strategy by developing an economic positioning strategy that supports the Strategic Launch Concept and Marketing Plan. The successful IPSL is a member of the extended clinical team, and develops the health economics data collection strategy, including potential modification of the clinical development plan and clinical endpoints to support pricing, reimbursement and funding decisions. Work with an International Medical Leader on economic support for therapeutic guidelines and on an economic publication strategy that supports medical marketing. Work closely with regulatory colleagues to support label claim development and to ensure strategic alignment between regulatory and payer strategy. Successfully interface with critical external parties, such as: clinical and economic opinion leaders, advisory boards and health authorities.



Detailed Responsibilites:

  • Leads market assessment and analysis as these relate to global payer and reimbursement strategies:

 

 

  1. Conduct or commission market research and competitive analysis working with International Business Analysts and other internal and external partners
  2. Lead in the synthesis of market and business analytics
  3. Lead in the translation of research and analytics into enhanced business opportunities and/or solutions to key business challenges
  4. Track and communicate all critical emerging markets, pricing, access and distribution business trends and issues to internal partners and stakeholders
  5. Review opportunities and challenges with internal partners and stakeholders and assess in light of planned immediate, medium and longer-range business strategies, plans and objectives
  • Lead the process of working with team and others to develop updated and enhanced business strategies that will enable the company to optimize its pricing effectiveness and patient access
  1. Develop metrics for existing and possible future global payer and reimbursement strategies, markets and channels
  2. Lead internal partner/stakeholder reviews of updated/enhanced global payer and reimbursement strategies. Champion the work of Global Payer Strategy and Strategic
  3. Pricing and advocates the business case and imperative for action. Respond to all inquiries and other questions from internal and/or external partners and stakeholders.
  4. Ensures full partner/stakeholder alignment to all revised and/or otherwise updated or new global payer and reimbursement strategies
  5. Lead the development of processes and tools to facilitate and monitor strategy performance and results
  6. Collaborate with all internal partners/stakeholders in the development of detailed communication and implementation plans to effectively introduce and implement new and changed terms, processes, and/or other related strategic components
  • Develop budgets and operating plans and review and approve with management.
  • Where appropriate, play a lead role in the identification, negotiation and ultimate contracting with external vendors.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Doctoral degree in economics, pharmacoeconomics, health services, or outcomes research; or Doctoral degree in clinical discipline (PharmD, MD, DO) with a Masters degree; or Masters degree with comparable work experience in pricing, health services research, health care policy or health economics
  • 6+ years' work experience in the areas of pricing, reimbursement and market access in the health care environment, and/or health economics in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to ensure that all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of all activities are followed.
  • Previous experience in Inflammation or related therapeutic area essential
  • Demonstrated successful experience in developing and implementing pricing and market access strategies with payers internationally and in executing applied economic and health outcomes studies with strategic drug development and commercialization objectives
  • Demonstrated understanding of the international payer environment including coverage and reimbursement, pricing, formulary management, health technology assessment, and health care policy
  • Clinical disease and product knowledge to support definition and generation of product value proposition
  • Principles of conducting primary and secondary payer research and health economics and outcomes research
  • Working knowledge of product development, regulatory and clinical affairs
  • Demonstrable abilities to establish relationships with key opinion leaders and other relevant, external influencers
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization
