Description

Pridemark Paramedic Services, LLC, a healthcare company specializing in emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation since 1997, is  currently accepting applications for the position of Commercial Insurance Account Representative.

The Commercial Insurance Account Representative is primarily responsible for initial verification and entry of trips where patients are covered by commercial insurance.  This position also includes working aging reports and calling insurance companies and patients to follow up on unpaid claims and submitting appeals as needed.  This position will also require answering incoming customer service calls, working insurance related correspondence and any other duties as directed by Supervisor. 

  

  

Required Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Initial verification of insurance coverage and eligibility, determining appropriate levels of service, medical coding and entering that information into the system for insurance billing.

·         Working Workflow in the billing system and aging reports to identify unpaid insurance claims.

·         Calling insurance companies and checking the status of unpaid claims.  Ensuring expedient payment by taking the necessary steps to generate payment from the carrier.

·         Sorting, processing and attaching documents to insurance forms and sending them out on a daily basis as needed.

·         Submitting appeals to insurance carriers in a timely manner when necessary.

·         Processing insurance related correspondence on a daily basis. (Denials, requests for additional information, etc.)

·         Answering incoming customer service phone calls and provide any assistance required in order to meet the customers needs.

·         Assisting in the cleanliness of the office/station

·         Assist in filing as time permits

 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Customer Service experience

·         Ability to type 35-40 words per minute

·         Data Entry - Numeric & Alpha

·         Medical terminology

·         High School diploma or equivalent

·         Experience in the medical billing field

·         Knowledge of  ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems

·         Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently

·         Ability to use computer with Microsoft Office package (word, Excel)

·         Ability to communicate in a friendly, positive, respectful manner

·         Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks at one time

·         Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed (minimal)

 

Preferred Qualification:

·         One year Medical Billing/Follow-up experience

·         Previous experience doing billing in and EMS setting

·         Knowledge of medical terminology

·         Ability to speak Spanish
