Oncology Consultants is the largest private oncology practice in Houston, Texas. We are experiencing rapid growth in Houston and the surrounding area requiring our current search for an experienced and certified Pharmacy Technician.

Job Responsibilities:
•Prepares the pharmaceutical agents ordered in the correct doses, for the correct patient, and provides those drugs to the clinical staff for administration.

•Works closely with clinical staff to verify dosages.

•Manages the supplies of all drugs and equipment required in the preparation and storage of the agents administered in the practice

•Coordinates the transfer of drugs and supplies to satellite office nursing staff as needed.

•Maintains current price lists for all drugs and supply items ordered by the practice.

•Reviews each shipping invoice and compares the invoice with the billing documents for each location.

•Works with the nursing staff to maintain the patient education supplies used within the practice. These items include informational brochures, booklets, books, video tapes, and audio cassettes.

•Assists the pharmacist, nurses and medical assistants with other duties as required.

Requirements

•Must have at least 1 year of Oncology IV infusion drug mixing experience.

•Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

•Must have current IV certification.

•Must be a certified pharmacy tech.

•Must be able to perform mathematical calculations in order to covert measurements and correctly mix medications.

•Must be familiar with and able to use personal protective equipment in the safe preparation of chemotherapy drugs.

•Must be able to work well as part of a team and able to adapt to working with different employees.

•Must be able to work effectively and accurately in a very high paced work environment.

•Experience with Lynx or Pyxis pharmacy system a plus.

•Competence in Excel required.
