Description
Clinical Research Management, Inc. (CRM) is a Government Contractor specializing in infectious disease research in the U.S. and aboard. CRM provides GxP services, research personnel, and support services, contributing to the development of vaccines, drugs, and devices, to help prevent, diagnose, and treat human disease. CRM has an immediate need for a Laboratory Animal Technician in Silver Spring, MD.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as laboratory animal technician and member of a research laboratory team consisting of investigators, technicians, and students.
2. Conduct physiological experiments in hemorrhage and resuscitation on small (rat, mouse, hamster, rabbit) and large (pig) animal models. Work will involve anesthesia, surgical procedures, blood and tissue sampling and other procedures done under sterile and near-sterile conditions.
3. Maintain workspaces, equipment, tools and supplies in a clean, orderly fashion and conduct all work according to standard operating procedures.
4. Keep accurate and complete records of research done in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
5. Assist in maintenance of supply inventories and ordering.
6. Develop written laboratory procedures and practices under guidance of investigators.
7. Submit procedural reports and data summaries as requested and assist in the preparation of research results for presentation and publication in the scientific literature.
8. Comply with occupational health and safety standards and other applicable regulations and guidelines.
9. Attend laboratory, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and seminars as required.
10. Provide technical assistance to CRM Headquarters as needed and participate on proposal writing projects when requested.
11. Provide all job-related progress reports/technical reports as requested.
12. Maintain a safe workplace ensuring that he/she is aware of and observes appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee is required to attend safety training relative to his/her position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer.
13. Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. Shall have prior experience in hands-on animal research or veterinary care and treatment of animals.
3. Based on previous work experience, the candidate must have demonstrated integrity and the ability to work together with other employees in a laboratory, animal care, or research facility.
4. The candidate shall be fluent in English language.
5. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: knowledge of applicable highly complex scientific/office procedures and techniques relating to position.
6. Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training.
7. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
