Summary of Certified Medical Coders

McBee Associates, Inc. - one of the nation's largest, independent health care financial management firms is seeking Certified Coding Specialists to support our Medical Coding Practice, located in our corporate office in Wayne, PA as well as our Columbia, MD office.

The Coding Specialist reviews client charts and medical records, ensuring that client coding is accurate and compliant, as well as identifying appropriate diagnosis (ICD-9/CPT-4/HCPCS) codes for revenue cycle initiatives. The qualified candidate must have a working knowledge of current coding practices.

Responsibilities of Certified Medical Coders

• The contractor shall provide technical automation support for all versions of MS Windows, MS Access, MS SQL, MS Excel, MS Publisher, Adobe, Cold Fusion, and /or ARC GIS.
• The contractor shall provide data development and administration in support of AFIOH/RSR's analytical capabilities.
• The contractor shall document products for the actual computer code used in order for government personnel to access these files for review, approval or for generating copies as required.
• All requirements shall be prepared in accordance with AFIOH programming standards and standard commercial practices inclusive of any/all procedures implanted as part of this task.
• The contractor shall incorporate permanent reports into a menu driven format to allow transparent user manipulation or reproduction of these reports, including formatting macros

Requirements for Certified Medical Coders

CCS, CPC, CPC-H, RHIA or RHIT Certification Required, College Degree a plus

• Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years coding experience.
• Must be able to work at the Wayne, PA or Columbia, MD office
• Must possess one or more of the following: CCS, RHIT, or an RHIA credential through AHIMA; or a CPC/CPC-H credential from the AAPC.
• Four year degree is desirable but not required.
• Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Must be capable of producing detailed, comprehensive documentation and reports.
• Travel to client sites is required as is occasional overnight travel.
