Director - Data Management

Ascension Health Information Services (AHIS) located at Carondelet Health Network in Tucson, AZ is seeking to hire a Director of Data Management who will report directly to the CIO and be responsible for all clinical and financial data management functions with regards to both product delivery and process re-design.  This Director will manage a team of 10+ analysts and clinical quality analysts.

• Lead the data management redesign effort
  • Develop and maintain a clinical/financial data element dictionary including metadata
  • Develop and maintain a report catalog and search library
  • Research clinical and financial data warehousing strategies
  • Identify and implement reporting automation technologies for data capture, report building, and presentation building
  • Develop and implement new report delivery capabilities (SharePoint, email notification, etc.)
  • Develop a personal level of expertise in our data element, reporting processes and meta data to serve as a higher level Subject Matter Expert both within IT and within the network
• Work across organizational boundaries to implement reliable, repeatable, verifiable data management structures throughout the organization
• Develop and manage a workflow analysis process to work with hospital clinicians and network quality organizations, CMOs, etc. to identify problem areas in data capture and processing work flows in order to create expedited, reliable processes that would allow us to move reporting frequencies to monthly from quarterly
• Design and deliver dashboard solutions for financial daily dashboards and clinical dashboards
• Serve as a key team member of the IS Management team providing leadership, mentoring, and strength to the overall IT organization

• Bachelor Degree is required; preferably in MIS, CIS or related fields
• Masters degree preferred.  MS in Medical Informatics or MIS optimal
• 10+ years experience in IT operations or development roles, with minimum of 5 years in Hospital/HealthCare environment is required
• Software development experience, particularly data repository, data warehouse
• 5+ years management experience required
• Experience in database design; reporting tool development; SQL
• Experience with one or more hospital reporting capabilities.  Particularly Midas, Cerner CCL, Meditech
• Clinical Electronic Health Record knowledge and experience important
• Ability to accommodate On Call responsibilities
• Willingness to reside within a commutable distance of Tucson, AZ
