Primary Duties:  The Vascular Sonographer utilizes high frquency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. The professional level of the health care service requires highly skilled and competent individuals who function as integral member of the health care team. The Vascular Sonographer must be able to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render appropriate discretion and judgment in their clinical examination. The Sonographer must acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care.

Requirements

Job Requirements:  Specialized training in vascular testing procedures, anatomy and physiology, knowledge of medical terminology equivalent to that normally acquired through completion of technical schooling. Must be skilled with interacting and communicating with patients. He/she should be able to explain the procedure to the patient while performing the study, but should not be placed in the position of rendering clinical interpretation of results. Intrpersonal skills essential in order to effectively communicate with patients and family members in explaining procedures and allaying fears. Sonographer must obtain appropriate clinical history from the patient, as well as related physical findings(cardiac/vascular auseultation and pertinent laboratory data) in order to adapt the imaging techniques to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic results Maintains a high degree for responsibility of independent judgment and clinical interpretative knowledge.
