Presales Engineer

Two positions available, at least one needs Federal clients. The Federal Presales Engineer role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients. Two positions available, at least one needs Federal clients. Both candidates need to be strong in VAX. Preference is for someone who will work from home in the Washington D.C. area, but they will consider people from other parts of the US. Target base salary range is $75,000 - $90,000. Commission plan also part of the package. Expected travel up to 50%, depending upon where you are located. International travel may be required as well.

Responsibilities of the Presales Engineer:
  • Report jointly to the Global Head of Presales and to the USA sales division.
  • Manage and ensure coordination and communication between the customer and the teams (sales, pre-sales, support)
  • Be instrumental in converting opportunities to timely and successful deals
  • Perform presales technical evaluation of the customer's systems and infrastructure in close collaboration with sales representative.
  • Provide value added services (legacy OS and modern infrastructure management and consultancy) for the customers.
  • Participate in and lead PoCs.
  • Document and maintain presales cases in the knowledge base for global presales team.
  • Assist in RFP & RFQ’s tailored to federal space.

Job Requirements

Qualifications of the Presales Engineer:
  • Proven experience as a senior presales professional with consistent track record of successful presales cases.
  • Demonstrated success record in US Federal space / military (Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps…).
  • Security clearance currently in effect.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proven record in supporting full sales process from plan to close.
  • Team spirit, detail oriented approach, capacity to prioritize, learn and develop, positive and pro-active work ethic and commitment to deliver high quality work in a professional & timely fashion.
  • Excellent command of English (native level); another language is an advantage.
 
Technical requirements
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent
  • Ideally a DEC engineer, with excellent knowledge on PDP, VAX, Alpha hardware and their physical components
  • Excellent knowledge of OpenVMS, True64, Windows Server 2008
  • Detailed knowledge of VMware
  • Administration of virtual machines
  • Excellent skills on networking and general hardware knowledge (SCSI, RAID, VLAN, adaptors)
  • Knowledge of HP 3000 systems is a plus.
