Engineer 5 (Technical Supervisor)

Location can be in Pittsburgh PA or Morgantown WV

 

Purpose and Scope:

Perform as supervisor of a diverse engineering and drafting department. Perform a

variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development,

design, installation, inspection, operation, and maintenance of diverse systems. Provide

oversight and scheduling of engineering work and assignments.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Provide Supervision, scheduling, and coordination of engineering staff.

2. Conduct code reviews.

3. Attend meetings with client for project scope and implementation

4. Provide supervision and coordination for Condition Assessment Survey (CAS)

and Facility Information Management System (FIMS) staff and projects.

5. Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks independently.

6. Responsible for complete designs, analyses, or design reviews.

7. Generate complete design specifications, statements of work, and cost estimates

for more complex projects.

8. Provide training to less experienced engineers.

9. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and

program management disciplines to define system specifications and

requirements.

10. Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking

project status.

11. Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem

specifications.

12. Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final

design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings

to comply with requirements and specifications.

13. Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering

problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

14. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test

procedures.

15. Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.

16. Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the

technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

17. Perform construction inspections as required.

18. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Licensed Professional Engineer in WV and PA

Bachelor degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job related experience. Registered Professional Engineer required. Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and

integrated software application programs. Position may require travel.

 

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards,

occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer

terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of

speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess

planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. At times may

involve work in environments (Industrial/laboratory space.) where mechanical

equipment is being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained.

Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Regular

handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental

alertness is required.
