SQL Server DBA / Developer

The SQL Server Database Administrator / Developer role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Charlotte, NC. Target salary range is $75,000 - $85,000. The ideal candidate will fit in with the team / culture and be trainable - doesn't necessarily need to meet all of the skill requirements listed below. Local candidates strongly preferred. No sponsorship available.

As a SQL DBA, you will provide strategic guidance, advanced support and administration on the Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure deployed within the company, while following and maintaining security best practices and policies.

Tasks of the SQL DBA:
  • Evaluate, write, and debug T-SQL, SQL code
  • Applicant should have deep knowledge of SSIS development and troubleshooting
  • Experience performance tuning very large databases
  • Developing monitoring and alerting functions related to SQL
  • Applying security best practices and methodologies
  • Developing and applying SQL performance related tools and functions
  • Defining and establishing operational processes
  • Adhere to change control and release procedures
  • Providing in-depth support to dependant teams and functions

Job Requirements

Information Security Requirements of the SQL DBA:
  • Define and advise on opportunities for improvement on SQL Server security
  • Monitor subject matter expert Internet sites relating to SQL server security vulnerability and good practices
  • Identify and enforce least privileges methodology to SQL servers and databases
  • Identify and enforce enhanced logging and relevant security controls within Microsoft SQL Server
  • Review system and Microsoft SQL logs for unexpected entries and audit logging
  • Maintain user access administration and auditing
  • Comply with access control requirements and ensure that change control and line management are aware of changes that may impact sensitive information
  • Monitor system availability and activity where applicable

Desired Qualifications of the SQL DBA:
  • At least 5 years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000-2012
  • Demonstrated experience with T-SQL and SQL coding
  • Expertise with SSIS package construction, deployment, management
  • Ability to discuss and apply security related initiatives
  • Exposure to and knowledge of operational processes
  • Understanding of the concepts of structured data storage and retrieval
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks appropriately
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with MS SQL clustering including installation
