Network Engineer - SCADA

What we are looking for:

  • This position will spend a limited time in Sinking Spring, PA, then will be permanently relocated to Houston, TX.
  • The Network Engineer - SCADA will manage and support data networks for 24x7 Petroleum Pipeline and Butane operations.
  • Manage and troubleshoot problems with LAN/WAN communication equipment on private IP and IPSEC Networks.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of network hardware and software to assure reliability and 100% uptime for critical operations.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance and monitoring of firewalls, routers, switches, serial & IP-based radio links and third party network circuits.
  • Diagnose system and network issues identified by pipeline and butane operators, technicians, and users to resolve problems quickly.
  • As Network Engineer - SCADA, you will collaborate with telecommunications service providers to assure quality service of VSAT, Cellular, T1 and MPLS circuits.
  • Manage the administration of various routing protocols in the network.
  • Work with application vendors to provide a reliable SCADA infrastructure for their applications to run in a 24x7 real-time environment.
  • Assist internal SCADA and systems personnel with their ability to provide reliable support for the Control Center group.
  • The Network Engineer - SCADA will perform activities required to deploy and support a mission-critical IP and serial  network with connections to many remote pipeline stations requiring 24x7 availability:
    • Physical and logical network design (network architecture know-how a big plus)
    • Identification, diagnosis, and resolution of network problems
    • Configuration and maintenance of network component software
    • Configuration and management of network monitoring
    • Performance analysis and capacity planning for network circuits/devices
    • Specification and procurement of network circuits
    • Router, switches, and firewall configuration and maintain backups
  • Stay current with new technologies and recommend adoption as appropriate.
  • Identify areas for automation of other process improvements, making best practice recommendations.
  • Assist in establishing and enhancing regulatory and compliance processes.
  • The Network Engineer - SCADA will maintain asset information and other network documentation
  • Analyze and solve complex problems using good analytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of networks.
