Software Development Engineer

The Software Development Engineer role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Cary, NC. Target salary range is $90,000 - $110,000 with one of the best benefits packages in town. Relocation assistance is available as is sponsorship for people with at least 2 years remaining on their current visa.

We are looking for an experienced Java developer to join a project team that is being setup to develop software solutions which meet regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

Essential Technical Skills of the Software Development Engineer:
  • 5+ years Java development on Unix, Linux, or Windows
  • Experience with Multi-threading, JDBC, JMS Messaging
  • Experience with writing distributed, clustered applications
  • Java performance profiling and GC tuning
  • Experience in HTML5 and JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience in developing applications using Oracle databases, including PL/SQL, application performance tuning etc.

Preferable Technical Skills of the Software Development Engineer:
  • Experience with GWT (Google web toolkit)
  • Experience with messaging middleware products
  • Experience with Spring framework

Experience of the Software Development Engineer:
  • At least 7 years of total experience
  • Experience in working within an Agile development environment desirable, but not essential.
  • Candidates should have had involvement at all stages of SDLC: analysis, design, development, unit and integration testing, UAT facilitation, packaging, deployment and support
  • Preferably has worked in a large, global organization where tools, processes, standards are shared and collaboration is key.
  • Financial services industry experience, especially in HFT, algorithmic trading and low latency software applications is desirable but not essential
  • Undergraduate Degree preferred, in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, etc)
