We are currently recruiting for neighborhood insurance agency owners in several Illinois communities.  Although an insurance background is not required, historically we have seen success with our agency owners who have transitioned into this role from: sales, customer service, accounting, marketing, management, banking, finance, retail, hospitality/restaurant, and risk management.



To help you get started, in addition to some of the most generous new business and renewal commissions in the industry, new agency owners are eligible for additional financial support of up to $2,500/ mo on top of their monthly commission.

Train While Keeping Your Current Job: Our training program may be approached either as an accelerated or transitional rate.  This allows our agency owners to put in part-time or full-time efforts, letting them make an informed decision before launching their career with Farmers.

On-going Support: Our team of insurance professionals will provide you with comprehensive product and sales training as well as marketing assistance including developing and implementing a proven individualized business plan. We will provide you with the tools you need to develop your business skills and give you the insurance expertise necessary to make a positive impact on your clients’ lives.

Managerial & Staff Support: You are never alone. You have freedom as an entrepreneur, but can lean on the strength of one of the world’s most established insurance companies.

As an Insurance Sales Agent, you will solicit new prospects, sell our products and services and assist existing clients, as necessary. You will also network within your community – attending networking events, sales conferences and trade shows to market your business and target your preferred audience.

Additional responsibilities for the Insurance Sales Manager include:


  • Providing excellent customer service to policyholders
  • Educating customers on their plan options
  • Creating your own daily schedule
  • Obtaining pertinent licenses and keeping them current
  • Staying abreast of evolving industry and product changes
  • Making staff hiring and firing decisions

Job Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Current insurance licensure, preferred (property-casualty, life, accident, health, 6 and 63) or willingness to obtain
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Desire to continually learn new products and services
  • Desire to be active in the community
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to pass background and credit check (No repos, chapter 7, 11, or 13 bankruptcies within the last 12 months. No felonies.)
  • Sales and/or customer service experience, strongly preferred
