Order Manager


  • Under minimal supervision of the Order Management Manager, the Order Manager is responsible for customer orders and/or projects from receipt through invoicing and for the overall success and execution of the order or project.
  • Manage all distribution orders for assigned accounts; review and answer customer inquiries related to their purchase orders
  • Assist with write ups for orders that include any special documentation or testing
  • Assist Order Entry/Support with any discount or pricing concerns
  • Review orders for completeness and coordinate with customer to obtain any missing information
  • Review customer specifications as needed to determine what testing and inspection activities are required; plan and coordinate any outside inspection activities or any other work that must be done at an outside location.
  • Advise customers of shipments and manage freight forwarder requests
  • Provide proactive, quality customer communications including but not limited to: order receipt notices; order commitments and schedules; shipment notices including tracking information; order status changes
  • Manage any customer returns or complaints
  • Assist Accounting with invoicing issues
  • Drive process improvements within order management area, including the sharing of best practices with peers.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent work experience strongly preferred
  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred with experience in functions such as procurement, engineering, operations, sales engineering or customer service
  • Project management experience preferred with demonstrated ability to apply project management methodology as described in the PMI project management body of knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification issued by Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and multi-task to meet deadlines required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Ability to utilize Microsoft Project or other project management software desirable.
  • Experience with Oracle highly desirable.

This is a long term temporary assignment of one year plus in far NW Houston area paying $25.00 an hour with career potential and direct hire possible later.
