Dairy Analytical Chemist  (twin Falls, IDAHO)  85-100k---

The Dairy Analytical Chemist is responsible for maintaining the daily analytical testing (primarily component analysis) including sample preparation, analysis, documentation, quality programs, safety, customer satisfaction, and confidentiality. The Dairy Analytical Chemist will support various investigational studies and is responsible for maintaining and improving the laboratory quality systems.
Perform shipping and receiving functions according to sample custody procedures which include data entry, packet creation, label making, sorting, filing and product disposition.

Prepare and analyze samples using analytical techniques and instrumentation for food component analysis on a variety of dairy-based products, primarily raw milk, heat-treated milk and cream and yogurt but also dairy-based beverages, dips and sauces according to standard procedures
Prepare and maintain chemical solutions, utilizing proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal in accordance to a laboratory chemical safety plan
Ensure all results are accurately reported and that all documentation and controls are in place
Participate in various proficiency testing
Develop and maintain a Laboratory Master Sanitation and Equipment Calibration/Maintenance Schedule
Support special projects as assigned by QA Management (i.e. equipment validation, verification); assist in validation and implementation of new analytical methodologies
Assist with channel development and maintenance for analytical equipment for component analysis on raw and heat-treated milk via the FOSS Milkoscan FT2 Analyzer
Assist with channel development and maintenance for analytical equipment for component analysis on in-process solids (yogurt, etc.) via the FOSS FoodScan, Bruker Tango, and CEM Smart Trac II
Maintain and operate primary protein analysis using the FOSS Kjeltec for total protein, NPN, and True protein analysis
Develop a library of component analysis for each SKU using the AlphaMoss E-nose technology (Gas Chromatograph)     

Job Requirements

BS Degree in Chemistry / Biochemistry
Minimum of 5 years laboratory experience in food industry with a focus on dairy-based products
Industrial food safety/quality assurance experience desired
Must be familiar with standard analytical methods for component analysis of dairy-based products and familiar with NIR technology instruments (FOSS Milkoscan, Foodscan, Bruker Tango, CEM Smart Trac) and gas chromatography
Experience with LIMS systems (ie., LabVantage)
Data interpretation and presentation
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Good Laboratory Practices
