Info Assurance Security Analyst

Job Description

The IA Assessment Security Analyst will be working with an Information Assurance and Operational Test Team supporting government IT customers. The evaluation of IA will reveal the capabilities and limitations of the system under test (SUT) IA posture and the effectiveness of the applicable IA controls per DODI 8500.2. The evaluation includes protection, detection, reaction and restoration/COOP capabilities and limitations in the presence of realistic information operations (IO) threats and countermeasures (as feasible) using assessment teams to conduct a system vulnerability assessment and penetration testing. The tester will analyze results and prepare reports in support of contractual requirements in the formats directed by the customer. The tester will support non-technical IA Assessments as well as provide range security support for accreditation packages The IAM/SME must be able to research, plan, execute and report on non-technical IA Assessments in support of OT&E. The analyst will research IA requirements, gather required documentation on system under test IA posture (EMASS Access, DIACAP artifacts, DT assessments, POA&Ms, network diagrams, data flow diagrams). A keen understanding of a systems approach to IA and the interaction of systems of systems is critical to this position. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:
• Develop and implement programs to ensure systems, networks, and users follow networking environment and IA polices
• Advise DAA of changes affecting the networking environment IA posture
• Conduct networking environment physical security assessments
• Help prepare IA certification and accreditation documentation
• Interview key SUT IA personnel (IAO, IAM, system administrators, users)
• Review SUT operations procedures (COOP, incident response, account creation, network operations)
• Analyze data and determine SUT compliance with IA controls from DODI 8500.2, NIST 800-53, DCID 6/3
• Report Findings and provide guidance to correct or mitigate risks

• IA assessment experience (AF IA Manager Level 2 or Technician Level 2 or equivalent)
• BS (in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technical discipline) with emphasis on information security practices
• Ability to plan, develop, and execute information assurance evaluation tests and document test results in a formal document IA assessment experience (AF IA Manager Level 2 or Technician Level 2 or equivalent)
• BS (in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technical discipline) with emphasis on information security practices
• Ability to plan, develop, and execute information assurance evaluation tests and document test results in a formal document

Desired:
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle in a government enterprise environment
• Familiarity with DOD operational test and evaluation methods
• Familiarity with DOD red team/blue team assessment methods
• (AF IA Manager Level 2 or Technician Level 2 or equivalent)

Required: CISSP (or Associate)

Desired: GSNA (GIAC Systems and Network Auditor)--SANS Institute; SCNP (Security Certified Network Professional); and/or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Required Clearance:
• Top Secret clearance required with recent (within two years) SCI.
