Registered Nurse NICU Float Pool - PRN

Job Description

Position Description: All NICU Float Pool will be hired by their home unit, either SDMC or NAMC NICU. NICU Float Pool nurses must be willing to float between SDMC NICU and NAMC NICU.   All NICU Float Pool will be required to schedule a total of eight 12 hour shifts per scheduling period (4 in each NICU) and 2 of the 12 hours shifts must be scheduled on the weekend. Weekend shifts are Friday 7p-7a, Sat 7a-7p, Sat 7p-7a, Sun 7a-7p, and Sun 7p-7a. 
The position is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Supervisor of the Nursing Unit. According to hospital policies and procedures, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:
Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.  Minimum two years of Level III NICU experience is required to qualify for a NICU Float Pool PRN position
Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.  Experience as a Staff Nurse in an acute care setting.
License/Certification:
Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas.  Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty.
