Shipping/Receiving Supervisor

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Supervises day to day operations of the warehouse. Responsible for warehouse activities for all products produced in the facility including shipping, receiving, product supply, scheduling employees, sanitation, quality, safety, GMP, housekeeping and environmental services activities. Ensures that employees adhere to Plant and government regulations with emphasis on safety, sanitation and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise/assign daily activities to shipping and receiving employees.
  • Ensure an organized, safe and sanitary work environment in compliance with Company policies, OSHA and other government regulations
  • Maintain stock order transfers as necessary, and ensure timely and accurate load out of all products.
  • Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all receiving tasks and accompanying transactions.
  • Ensure full compliance with all quality assurance standards, especially good housekeeping and overall cleanliness of products and work areas.
  • Participate in Plant walk-throughs in absence of Manager. Maintain awareness of deficiencies and make corrective actions within own assigned area.
  • Perform cost containment activities and drive productivity.
  • Drive and monitor departmental achievement for successful attainment of targeted Sales to Service metrics.
  • Cooperate with all departments as a cross-functional change agent.
  • Provide back-up to Department Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Required Experience

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 –32 years’ experience, or
  • 8 or more years of progressively more responsible warehouse experience
  • Certified in fork lift operation
  • Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet, word, transportation and cold chain applications
  • Leadership and communications skills
  • Proficient in SAP is preferred.
  • Assist Department Management in implementing Department policies and procedures
  • Assist in screening and interviewing prospective applicants for various warehousing positions.
  • Resolves personnel grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Shipping/Receiving Manager and Human Resource Manager for action
  • Directs personnel in proper record keeping and supervises accurate job completion.
  • Establish and/or adjust work schedules and procedures to meet departmental objectives.
  • Trains personnel to identify and deal appropriately with product status issues (i.e. held, remix, etc)
  • Assures all shipping and receiving forms and documents are completed by Dept. personnel as required.
  • Identify department areas which need improvement, and assist Department Manager with formulating and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work interdepartmentally with other supervisors to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Works cooperatively with the Planning, Logistics, and Purchasing departments to facilitate on time arrival, departure and delivery of ingredients and finished goods.
  • Other duties, as required

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of time.
  • Uses a computer keyboard and monitor more than 25% of the time.

  • Must be able to pass a drug test and physical examination
