Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm Day shift - flexible for rotating weekends
payrate: $29 - $32
Must have Hospital Inpatient or Medical Center Inpatient Coding Experience
Must be a CCS Certified Coding Specialist through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA),
Coding Specialist (CCS) is trained to classify medical data from patient records into numeric codes using the ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems. A specialist will also know medical terminology and pharmacology.
An inpatient coder must thoroughly review all patient medical charts in an effort to ensure that all information is accurate.
When discrepancies and other inaccuracies are discovered in files, an inpatient coder must communicate with medical staff members such as nurses and doctors to resolve the issue.
J ob Duties:
Medical coding in an acute care setting; must posses
proficient computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, ICD-9-
CM, CPT-4, Encoder); knowledge of coding guidelines,
payor guidelines, federal billing guidelines; knowledge of
anatomy, physiology & disease processes; ability to
research coding related issues; competence in coder
training; must have CCS and knowledgeable with 3M/HDS
High School diploma or GED equivalent,
