Title: Resident Support Engineer

Location: Southern CT

Compensation: $80k-100k

Employment Type- Staff Augmentation – one year full time contract

Certifications: CCNP or CCNA



Service Overview

We are seeking a full-time Staff Augmentation Resident Support Engineer (RSE), experienced in network switching and security tools infrastructure to augment our client’s existing staff to oversee design, deployment, and ongoing support of their solution. The RSE works under the customer’s guidance to deploy the solution and provides proactive best practices guidance for optimized use. This is a full time, one-year contracted position located at the customer facility in Connecticut.



Service Details

Our client has purchased a visibility fabric solution and requires full-time staff augmentation to assist their local technical team with the design, deployment, documentation, validation, and knowledge transfer of our solution to their staff.

The successful candidate will fully integrate with the customer’s technical team and management structure to execute on internal client processes required for integration of ’s technology into the client’s IT infrastructure.

Specific position responsibilities include:

- Understand the customer’s traffic visibility needs and recommend best practice methods for using products to meet the customer’s requirements.

- Follow customer-dictated processes for design justification, documentation, and associated peer review and approval of IT infrastructure changes needed to support the solution.

- Design and conduct pre-deployment certification testing prior to deployment.

- Develop custom configurations to support client traffic distribution requirements.

- Work within scheduled maintenance windows to deploy the solution, including interface to associated network switches and tools. Validate proper traffic distribution once custom configurations are installed.

- Develop, justify, gain approval, and deploy authentication methods for secure equipment access.

- Determine types of alerts to be monitored from our equipment to assure proper equipment health. Configure traps and appropriate syslog settings on monitoring tools such as Splunk and Spectrum for optimized NOC management of the installation.

- Develop and document processes for ongoing operation and troubleshooting of the solution, including level of response based on error message type.



Qualifications

- Minimum 7 years progressive work experience in IT infrastructure design, deployment, and support, preferably with network switches and routers, firewalls, security tools such as intrusion detection and prevention systems, virtualization, and various network performance monitoring systems.

- Certification in networking technology (minimum CCNA Routing and Switching, preferred CCNP).

- Prior consulting and/or staff augmentation experience.

- Confident and fully accountable for all assigned actions from the client.
