Sr. Project Manager - Civil Engineering/Infrastructure

Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team in Newport News, VA, as a Senior Project Manager. Under direction of a senior leader, the candidate will provide professional and project management expertise in civil engineering infrastructure projects. The candidate will use and develop their local relationships and will work with the team in the development of sales. Candidate should have strong local (public and private client) contacts and be able to develop and execute a strategic plan to grow Atkins' presence in the local market.

Job Requirements

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

Manage projects, including client, technical, financial, schedule, and risk management.

Coordinate efforts of lead technical professionals, junior engineers, drafters, and designers assigned to projects

Coordinate and manage design efforts with project personnel from other disciplines.

Technical and quality control review of design documents.

Proposal preparation.

Coordinate contract negotiations.
Identifies new business opportunities for the firm, coordinates and participates in project presentations to clients and other external groups, and promotes firm's capabilities, marketing its services among existing and prospective clients.
Participates in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and in the preparation of firm's qualification/experience statements.

Represents the organization to clients, regulatory agencies and the general public, directly interfacing with client company presidents, agency directors, city manager or mayor, etc.

Maintains contact and visibility with professional, civic, and other organizations to promote the firm and elicit new business.

Other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Education and Experience:

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework is a plus. This level may be achieved by Engineers with ten years of experience in project production and technical professional activities, four of these working as a project manager.
