The Manager, Special Projects will lead and manage projects that support and promote the mission, vision and goals of the ACT Foundation. 


Typical work-related activities include:

  • Support Executive Director and directors in accomplishing goals by managing multiple projects
  • Manage, organize and travel to off-site Foundation meetings, convenings and related events as necessary
  • Speak as a representative of the Foundation in multiple settings
  • Represent the Foundation on panels and in workshops
  • Contribute ideas and proposals for enhancing the Foundation’s procedures and practices with due consideration for the quality and cost of the work performed
  • Receive and manage requests for information, inquiries and concerns from outside partners
  • Keep up to date with industry, competitive and innovation trends that can impact the organization
  • Keep Executive Director and directors informed and updated on a regular basis
  • Demonstrate commitment and dedication to ACT and ACT Foundation’s strategic vision and direction
  • Manage special projects as assigned including events, convenings, and meetings
  • There will be up to 50% travel required for this position

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, or in the absence of a Bachelor's degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired; a minimum of three years of experience managing projects and contracts; and, a minimum of three years of relationship management experience are required. In addition, applicants must possess the following: a driving passion to work with a continuum of stakeholders to support low-income young working learners who are striving to gain competencies to raise their trajectory of life and career success; superior writing skills; strong analytical, strategic planning, presentation and negotiation skills; ability to create logical and innovative solutions to complicated issues, set specific goals and priorities, adapt  quickly to change, manage stress effectively and read and interpret written material including the recognition of technical terms and jargon. In addition, the following are preferred: Master’s degree; Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; experience in grantmaking and grant writing; experience in scientific research; and, relationship management experience in higher education and/or philanthropy.

Starting salary commensurate with qualifications.
