Job Description

Legrand has an opportunity for a Mold Maker at our Concord, NC facility. The Mold Maker will repair, build, modify and PM injection molds using available Tool room equipment.

•Machines, tools and equipment used: Calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, mills, lathes, grinders, drilling, tapping and machines.
•Materials used: Rust inhibitors, polishing compounds, degreasers, and lubricants.
•Diagnostic work- being capable of determining whether a problem is processing or tooling.
•Prepare molds for production.
•Check shut-offs.
•Repair damaged cores and cavities.
•Grind ejector pins.
•Determine corrective action, prepare work order for toolroom repair, followup to assure accurate and timely repair.
•Total responsibility to eliminate non-conformance within quality of products

Job Requirements

Mandatory: Must have served certified Tool and Die/Mold Maker apprenticeship and HS Diploma.


•Experience welding various tool steels. A2, S7, 4200SS
•CNC Experience
•Familiar with different flash and shrinkage of various types of plastics, including Nylon, PVC, and ABS.


•Must be able to read and interpret blue prints
•Able to build new tooling from tool prints, and have the ability to work without prints or using a part print on some existing tooling.
•Must be able to diagnose mold issues or out of part print spec issues and correct. Fix flash and repair broken cores and cavities.
•Able to work independently, and with the support of engineering on old tools without prints, and be able to find solutions.
•Able to use proficiently standard tool room equipment, such as Mills, grinders, and lathes, and some knowledge or background with CNC equipment preferred.
•Able to design and build all electrodes necessary for EDM machines.
•Able to utilize all hand tools and measuring equipment necessary for mold maker.
