DESCRIPTION: Full-Time Faculty, Non-Tenure Track, starts 9/15/14
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) instructor is the primary instructor for the CNA course which serves students preparing to enter the Nursing Program and those preparing to enter the workforce as CNAs. He or she teaches the assigned the classroom content, two clinical sections, and the First Aid/CPR required for CNA 102 Certified Nursing Assistant course. This person will also teach one clinical in the Nursing Program per quarter. This person reports to the Assistant Dean for Nursing and is part of the Health Sciences Division.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Collaborate with other instructors and Associate Dean for Nursing to revise and update curriculum.
Develop and update syllabi for assigned course as needed as needed to maintain compliance with Washington State Rules and Regulations regarding nursing assistants.
Select appropriate methods of instruction and develop teaching materials to assist students to achieve the learning outcomes.
Teach assigned lecture and clinical portions of the curriculum
Assess student learning and maintain necessary documentation of student
Assign course grades based on course grading scale.
Submit quarter grades according to college timeline.
Act as a role model for students. Maintain professional standards of conduct and ethics appropriate to the position. Demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for the CNA course in
collaboration with the Nursing Program OA III.
Current unencumbered Washington State RN licensure
Minimum of three years’ experience as RN within the last five years working with the elderly and/or chronically ill
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Demonstrated competence in nursing skills
American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certificate and BLS Instructor or ability to certificate and become a BLS Instructor.
Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic,
socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Teaching experience especially at the community and technical college level
Experience with outcomes assessment
Experience using technology in the classroom and lab
Online teaching/hybrid teaching experience
Able to use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel)
