Position Responsibilities

Position Summary
The Director of Student Services will work with the Associate Dean of Students to: create and provide programming designed to improve the quality of students academic experience, professional development and co- and extracurricular pursuits; coordinate and provide academic success services in Boise; advise, counsel, and support students in Boise personally and professionally; and collaborate with other administrative offices to achieve the College of Law’s statewide goals.

Develop co-curricular programming for Boise and Moscow students that complement current efforts by the Academic Success Office, Career Development Office, and faculty
Design programming for Boise students to satisfy their professionalism graduation requirement in coordination with the Associate Dean of Students
Support student organization leaders and activities in Boise through the advisement of policies, processes, and protocols

Coordinate and Provide Academic Success Services

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Advise students regarding academic administration matters, class attendance, course scheduling, probation, and curriculum planning
Implement rules and policies set forth in the law school’s student handbook
Collaborate with faculty to identify, address, and resolve student-learning issues
Develop, implement, and coordinate a comprehensive program for bar exam success with the Director of Academic Success

Job Duty Function
Advise, Counsel, and Support Students in Boise

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Serve as the on site crisis counselor for law students in Boise
Advise students on personal and professional matters
Relay formal grievances from Boise students to the Associate Dean of Students
Ensure the proper administration of ADA compliance and accommodation issues for students with disabilities
Help students access University and College student support resources, like the counseling center, health center, and more
Establish and maintain professionalism and a good rapport with students, faculty, staff, and community members on behalf of the College of Law

Job Duty Function
Collaborate with Other Administrative Offices as Needed

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Support the Admissions Office by attending law school fairs, pre-law society meetings, and more
Greet and host prospective, new, and continuing students visiting the Boise campus
Work with the Career Development Office on joint programming and advising
Attend bench, bar, and alumni events on behalf of the College
Complete other job related duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
A Juris Doctor degree; previous experience counseling/advising law students and developing programming for a variety of student populations; a demonstrated sensitivity to and competency in working with issues of diversity; successful completion of a bar exam; ability to handle highly sensitive matters with complete discretion; and previous experience working in a changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications
Three to five years of experience working with law students in an administrative or faculty role. Knowledge of the Idaho State Bar admission process and the Uniform Bar Exam. Familiarity with American Bar Association standards, especially those related to academic support and bar exam performance requirements.
