Job Description

Position: Aquatics Director
Reports to: Joyce Neas, Executive Director
Salary Range: $32,000 - $40,000 + benefits (Full time exempt position)
General Function: This position is responsible to oversee the overall operations, equipment, and staffing of the Aquatic Department of the Briggs Community YMCA. Budget development and management and program administration are also key result areas of this position. As program leader, you'll supervise and provide training to an aquatics staff team responsible for a wide range of aquatic activities and swim lessons.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
 Competency in leading aquatics programs and aquatic staff/volunteer teams, fiscal management, administration, program development and growth, training and developing others, emotional maturity, communication, and relationship building
 Strong sense of responsibility for the safety of members in the pool and pool area, demonstrated by enforcing policies and procedures courteously and professionally, meeting all Association safety standards, and conducting rigorous in-service staff training and drills
 Current certifications on file at all times for oneself and the entire aquatics staff team, along with consistent adherence to branch and department emergency action plans
 Enthusiasm and ability to develop volunteers and fundraise in order to deliver on the cause of the YMCA through committee work and our Annual Campaign
 Basic knowledge of pool equipment and chemical systems and troubleshooting techniques
 Strong sense of responsibility for the overall quality of the aquatics programs and services, ensuring that all aquatics staff know and live our cause, engage members in our cause, and interact with members and the community using the Y voice in all forms of communication
 Commitment to set an excellent example of healthy living, member engagement, youth development, social responsibility, and community involvement.
 Proficiency in coaching, developing and leading a team of staff and volunteers to excellence
 Ability and drive to build relationships with community groups in an effort to develop and grow collaborations and partnerships
 Passion for high standards and strong belief in the importance of strengthening the foundations of our community

Requirements:
 Demonstrated knowledge in the field of aquatics and current certifications are required; YMCA experience preferred but not required
 B.A. Degree in physical education, recreation or its equivalent in experience
 A minimum of two (2) years of experience in aquatics field with at least one (1) year of supervision experience
 Superb written and oral communication skills
 Valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification for lifeguards (ASHI preferred)
 American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training certification (YMCA Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred)
 Authorized American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification (YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer certification preferred)
